Secrets

(A repost – written on 29 December 2013 after I learnt about a painful betrayal by someone I trusted with fragile bits of my truth and my fears)

The secrets we keep
And those we think we keep
And the fictions others hail as secrets

The thrill of the walls we build
The violation of ever eluding privacy
The unknown perceptions

The nursing of the fragile
The mockery of what we hold dear
The influence of an onlooker

These three concepts respectively
Reveal so much, changes even more
And predicts it all

What we desire
What we fear
What we will never know ourselves
